Coexistence among youth through sports

The project’s goal is to promote coexistence among youth by engaging them in sports competitions and training youth leaders, referees and sports supervisors to serve as guides in spreading a culture of peace and coexistence among youth participating in sports activities in this project and future projects.

The project targeted 216 males and females from three districts ( Al-Mudhaffar,Al-Qahera and Sallah) in Taiz city.

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU).

The project has an impact of alleviating the psychological tensions experienced by youth who are either displaced or from the host community because of the war, as well as promoting their social relations, helping them to move away from tension and violence, increasing their involvement in sports on a daily basis and creating opportunities for continuous communication among youth even after the project is completed, thus contributing to the consolidation of peaceful coexistence among youth from different social groups.

The project contributed to the creation of a leadership group (sports leaders) of 48 people who were qualified to play positive roles in spreading a culture of peace and coexistence among young people in their local communities and will contribute to the sustainability of the project by encouraging young people to communicate and exercise after the project ends.

In addition, the project’s role is to revitalize sports activities, normalize social conditions and create opportunities for youth and society, especially the public, who have attended to follow up and encourage sports competitions among youth.
