IYSO Participated in the UN 17th Annual Internet Governance Forum

Improve Your Society Organization (IYSO) Participated in the 17th Annual Internet Governance Forum IGF2022 in the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Addis Ababa Ethiopia during period 28 Nov.-02 Dec.2022 under the theme “Resilient Internet for a Shared Sustainable and Common Future.

The Forum themes centered around taking collective action and sharing responsibility to connect all people to the Internet and protecting human rights; avoid internet fragmentation; data regulation and privacy protection; Enabling safety, security and accountability in addition to working to promote the Internet to be open, free, secure and inclusive to achieve the goals of sustainable development.

The UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Lee Junhua. “The Internet is the platform that will accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals,” he said. “Our collective mission here in Addis Ababa is to unlock the power and potential of the resilient Internet for our sustainable and shared future.”
The Internet Governance Forum will be a key driver for dialogue, multi-stakeholder collaboration and partnerships between governments, the private sector, the technical community, civil society and international organizations to share best practices and experiences that will help shape national and global Internet policies.
The outcomes of the Internet Governance Forum, including its high-level parliamentary and youth sessions, will serve as a concrete framework for the global digital compact to be agreed upon at the United Nations Future Summit in 2024 as the world increases its reliance on digital technologies. Tools and platforms for communication, promoting sustainable development and creating inclusive, safe and resilient societies.#IGF2022
